Majorca Cuisine

If you’re travelling to Majorca for the first time, be adventurous and try some of the many local dishes that this fantastic island has to offer.

Most of Majorca’s traditional cuisine revolves around good old fashioned and robust peasant style cooking. The main ingredients for these stews and soups are fish, lamb and pork, vegetables and pulses.

Mallorca holds many festivals and food that is normally found at celebrations can be anything from traditional Paella which is a popular favourite with many holiday makers, to a spit roast suckling pig.
A favourite dish of Majorca is Sopas Mallorquinas, translated this means Majorcan Soup. Although you may assume sopas mallorquinas is a soup, it is infact more of a stew made out of layers of bread, vegetables and meat. The layers are then covered in a homemade stock and then it’s baked an oven until the stock is absorbed. This dish has been made for centuries as its a way of using up  stale bread and any vegetable that is in season and also any leftover meat.

Many of the tourists resorts offer cuisine to please any palete so don’t be afraid as there will be a food dish to tempt anyone.
